ID Vetting & National ID  #

There is an interesting conversation brewing in the blogosphere about how the concepts of ID vetting and National ID are evolving. As Eric says

"this is way past pseudonyms, anonymity and the rest -- this is about a high-stakes game of security.....ie, how do i know that you actually are the person that is tied to whatever credential you're asserting? and is that vetting process strong enough?"

This problem has not been addressed seriously enough so far, but it must eventually be. Is it a government function, a private secotr function, or some combination. As we imbue the netwrok with identity, it is critical we get it right - this is a critical part of the identity conversation.
