NIdM or NAC?  #

I'm spending a little time boning-up on my "NAC" knowledge in prep for the panels that I'm moderating about NAC (network access control) and IdM (identity management) at next week's Digital ID World (Did I mention that Digital ID World is next week and not attending is a near-career-ending mistake?).

As I'm reading through the confusing acronyms (NAC, NAP, etc) - I'm wondering if it isn't time for the group of innovative vendors in this space (Forescout, ConSentry, TNT, Identity Engines, Apere, Caymas, Juniper, etc) to rename their offerings with a more descriptive term: "Network Identity Management," or "N-IdM."

That way, we can distinguish it from Application Identity Management (ie, traditional IdM systems) and we can begin to speak about how N-IdM and A-IdM can work together for truly vertical (ie, integrated) *identity* management.

Who's with me?
